As a kick of to the youth month of June, Mayibuyi recently held an event at Phoenix youth center, involving 400 learners from Phoenix, Kwa-mashu and Inanda. The main purpose for that day was to educate and empower young people with social problems facing them. It was also a reminder to them that the struggle facing south african young people is still on based to social problems such as: drugs abuse, crime, early-pregnancy, alcohol abuse, child and woman abuse, poverty and unemployment. Learners were also given a platform to show their inner talent by demonstrating for the audiences in dancing, singing, poetry, and drama.
Our guest were Honourable MEC Ravi Pillay from Human settlement, Business icon Mr. Vivian Reddy, Professor Chetty, delegate Mrs. Ndaba from the office of MEC Weziwe Thusi department of social development, delegate from the office of MEC Willies Mchunu Mr. Mbele,Mr. Soobrayan from Department of Education regional offices, Bishop Govender from High calling global ministries in phoenix, Lieutenant Adams from phoenix saps, Mrs. Govender from Department of health phoenix. Mr. Calvin Reddy also shared his past experience on drugs. Mayibuyi youth organisation chair informed the learners that a proper weapon to fight social problems is by strengthen in education, unity, support to each other. He also informed learners not to allow divisions and discrimination based to racial and cultural backgrounds, discrimination on gender, economical backgrounds and disability status. Other members present was community organisations and community radio stations.
