Mayibuyi Youth Organization Chaired by Mr. Siviwe Benya was officially invited by the Department of Social Development, eThekwini District to send delegates to take part in a Youth Leadership Camp held at Saldanha Reserve from 22 – 26 June 2026.
The 5-day camp brought together youth leaders from across eThekwini to participate in intensive training focused on leadership, teamwork, personal development, and community project planning.
Building the Next Generation of Leaders
Facilitated by DSD officials and youth development experts, the programme included workshops on servant leadership, communication, conflict resolution, career planning, and substance abuse awareness. Delegates also worked in groups to design youth-led community projects aimed at addressing social challenges in their areas.
For Mayibuyi, the camp was more than just training. It was an opportunity to equip our young people with the skills, confidence, and networks needed to drive positive change in eThekwini Communities and surrounding communities.
Success and Impact for Mayibuyi Members
The event yielded great success and very good results for our members. All Mayibuyi delegates completed the full programme and received certificates of participation.
Key outcomes include:
• New Skills: Delegates gained practical leadership and project planning skills.
• New Ideas: 3 new community project concepts were developed to be rolled out by Mayibuyi in the coming months.
• New Networks: Mayibuyi established partnerships with 8 other youth organisations for future collaboration.
• Increased Motivation: Our members returned with renewed energy, discipline, and commitment to service.
